crossing Rubicons (10 January 2016)

Today in 49 BC, Julius Caesar and his army crossed the Rubicon River.
It was the point of no return as Caesar was defying the Senate, and therefore committing an act of insurrection and treason.

Alea iacta est (the die is cast)
- said Julius Caesar according to Suetonius

Paul and I crossed the Rubicon together when we were in Tasmania.

We were a few hours off the ferry in Davenport, and had just been at the mouth of the river near Hawley Beach.  We were on our pre-moon.  We were married a month later.

On the 10 January in 2013, a huge red dust-storm near Onslow (between Karatha and Exmouth) formed what looked like a huge red wave

It looks ominous, but BoM advised that it was
caused by a combination of wind and rain that kicked up rust-colored sand and dust into the air and forced the cloud of debris out to sea,
rather than being something biblical, prophetic and calamatous.
